Cook Islands Robotics team headed to Greece

The first-ever all-girls Robotics team will be heading off to the 2024 FIRST Global Robotics Challenge in Athens, Greece, from September 26 to 29. Cook Islands Tourism, in support of youth development, is proud to once again support the initiatives of the Cook Islands Robotics team to Greece.

The team have worked hard since June to design and build their competition robot, supported by the club’s growing membership of 17 students from 5. The competition theme, "Feeding the Future," challenges participants to tackle sustainability issues by manoeuvring robots in a simulated world that emphasises the interconnectedness of water, food, and energy systems.

The team is actively seeking support for their journey. Donations can be made via their Givealittle page to help fund their trip and further foster STEM growth in the Pacific. For local donations or volunteering inquiries, contact: connect@cocobots.org

Boosted Posts vs. Paid Ads: What’s the Deal?

If you’re scratching your head trying to figure out the difference between a boosted post and a paid ad, you’re not alone! Let us help you: a boosted post is like giving an existing post a little extra love—paying to show it to more people. It’s super quick, and great for getting more likes, comments, or shares. On the flip side, a paid ad is a bit fancier—you get to target specific people and choose what you want them to do (like visit your website or buy something).

  • Boosted Posts: Super easy, more people see your post, good for likes and comments, but you don’t get much control.
  • Paid Ads: More options to target the right people, better for specific goals like sales or sign-ups, but costs more and takes longer to set up.

In short, boost if you just want more people to see your post, or go for paid ads if you have a specific goal like driving traffic or sales.
